(almost) Free food for the next five days
I’m in survivalist mode again. It’s really hard to eat at restaurants, even fast food, when you know how inexpensively you can cook the meal at home.
But since I’m constantly out of the house at weird hours I need to find cheap fast food in addition to my Taco Bell fallback.
For the next five days Arby’s is pushing the new “Roastburger.” It’s a good sandwich and there are three varieties. The promotional coupon is for a free Roastburger with the purchase of any size drink.
$1.60 is pretty much just a little more than what it would cost to build this sandwich at home (not counting opportunity cost of going all the way home). But my friend Chris pointed out that phone surveys are on the Arby’s receipts. When you call to report your satisfaction you get a code for another free sandwich with no purchase necessary.
So 80 cents per sandwich with the convenience of having drive-thrus all over town. I made a sheet of the coupons that I keep in the car. No shame in surviving.
