Mid-Year’s Vows
Don’t get it twisted— these aren’t resolutions. A resolution is determination or purpose or intention. Resolution comes before the action, and according to business philosopher Jim Rohn affirmation without action is delusion. As ambitious as these quotas collectively look, they’re actually modest and conservatively calculated.
I will complete these goals by the end of 2008.
- Gain at least 8 pounds of muscle
- Launch at least one new media product on the web
- Start at least two websites that generate daily income
- Finish recording an album with friends
- Fund at least five more micro-loans to women in the food sector
- Learn a new painting style
- Finish writing at least one nonfiction manuscript
- Make extra money as some kind of local critic or reviewer
- Get back into some sort of commission-only outside sales job
- Perfect at least 4 more recipes
- Slowly reacquaint myself with fiction by reading one novel per month
- Cut back dining out to a maximum of 7 times per week
- Continue nightly to not lay down in bed until I’m exhausted.
