The A.M.P. (Automated Music Personality) from Hasbro/Sega/Tiger Electronics is a 2.5 foot robotic gyroscopic boombox. Plug in an mp3 player on the back and this robot will pump music out of its multiple speakers and dance. There’s a follow mode that allows the robot to lock onto the remote in your pocket and follow with your music for up to 10 hours, like a personal soundtrack butler. The best part is the price: just over $400.  Shockingly cheap when you realize that this is the type of thing we dreamed the future would have.  It’s available in October, which means we’re close to seeing humans casually walk on sidewalks with robots.
