It’s a sad day when frozen Chinese food outshines local restaurants, but I’ve had some pretty grotesque Chinese lately. I never use that word to describe food. Almost everything is edible, but you know that feeling when the best thing about your meal is the sauce? And you eat it because you’re at work and hungry and probably wouldn’t want to waste it anyway.
Well, Tai Pei frozen Chinese by VIP Foods has excellent sauce AND high quality white meat easily identified by mammal. The vegetables are as fresh as they would be if you cooked stir-fry yourself. For about $2.30 you get 14 ounces of food that takes 4 minutes to microwave (in the wrapper, to steam the rice).
The selections are bourbon chicken, sesame chicken, orange chicken, cashew chicken; and today I had teriyaki chicken with pineapple. I’m still looking for their pepper beef. Generally Chinese food isn’t fillling, so these make great snacks or small meals.
