TALK TO STRANGERS
I found an incredible website that speaks volumes about how far we’ve come in internet culture.
It’s called Omegle. The simple site greets you with the tagline “talk to strangers” and a big blue button to “start a chat.”
The service connects two random users to each other. The amount of information given and depth of conversation is set only by the dialogue...

Obsolescent planned obsolescence
I love it when a manufacturer tries to set the warranty based on the timed dysfunction of a product, but fails miserably just before the finish line.
My 600VA Energizer battery backup power supply died completely this week. I searched my inbox for the order confirmation from batteries.com and found out that the three year warranty expires in two weeks.
I also saw that I bought this backup for...
Bat For Lashes - Daniel [HD Music Video]
I can’t stop watching this video for the new single on Natasha Khan’s upcoming release “Two Suns.” Great song, great direction, costumes and modern dance + a Karate Kid concept. Directed by Johan Renck in Sweden. (Renck directed the film “Downloading Nancy” which was nominated at Sundance last year.)
Justifying her infatuation with Karate Kid (the album...

What is the point on Earth that is diametrically opposite to where you are standing now? In geography it’s called an antipode.

Why did I just now find out about RiffTrax?
Around age 10 I grew up with Mystery Science Theater 3000, a great concept tv show in which a dude and his robot friends were trapped in space by a madman and forced to watch awful public domain and B-movies. They survived the torture by running commentaries on the films and juxtaposing their own dialogue over the characters’.
I thought the show ended in the late 90s. Apparently...
(almost) Free food for the next five days
I’m in survivalist mode again. It’s really hard to eat at restaurants, even fast food, when you know how inexpensively you can cook the meal at home.
But since I’m constantly out of the house at weird hours I need to find cheap fast food in addition to my Taco Bell fallback.
For the next five days Arby’s is pushing the new “Roastburger.” It’s a good...

Spoiler: Portland is #1. That’s what they get for drinking so much PBR.
